Hello, friends. I've been working on something really exciting for the last six months, and I'm finally ready to share it with you. There have been things happening behind the scenes with my brand that I haven't really spoken about — side projects and opportunities I've been exploring while figuring out my next step. But today I'm finally ready to share a really exciting announcement. Maya Prass will be available to shop at The Space retail boutiques from high summer 2026.

If you're not familiar with The Space, it's a chain of retail boutiques founded by two well known South African designers, with eight stores around the country selling the work of a select group of South African designers. It's a boutique brand that has been around for almost twenty-five years — which in the world of independent retail is nothing short of remarkable. I have enormous respect for what they've built and what
they've sustained..
What makes this particularly meaningful to me is that I actually supplied The Space right at the beginning of my career. As my business grew in a different direction, I moved into wholesale and our paths diverged. Returning to them now feels like a full circle moment — one where I get to retail with them again as a much more experienced and grounded designer, with a more developed and mature approach to creating and selling product.

Getting here has been quite a journey. Over the last two years, I've been moving in a completely different direction — working on another brand, exploring a new creative path, and focusing on building my online made-to-order model.
And then, at the beginning of this year, a series of serendipitous events occurred that shifted everything. A project I had been deeply invested in came to an end. I reconnected with an old colleague who happened to be working for The Space. And suddenly, what had felt like a detour revealed itself to be exactly the road I needed to be on.
Out of something ending came the clarity, the resources, and the opportunity to create something new — and to bring Maya Prass into a physical retail space for the first time in years.

What this means for the brand is twofold. Firstly, for the first time in many years, Maya Prass will have a rail of product in a physical store where you can walk in, touch the fabric, try things on, and leave with something the same day. I've had so many customers ask me over the years where they can feel and experience the product in person. And finally, this will be possible.
Secondly — and this is the part that really fills me with joy — going into The Space is giving me the opportunity to go back to print. Print was the foundation of this brand for many years. Losing access to it during COVID was one of the hardest creative pivots I've ever had to make. But it also gave me five years to think deeply about where I wanted to go with it, what I wanted it to look like, and how I wanted to approach it
differently. And now, finally, I'm ready.

The collection launching at The Space will be a printed summer collection — and for the first time, I will be creating the prints myself. My own creative handwriting translated into textile is something I've been playing with and working towards for several years, and I can't wait to show you where it's going. I'll be sharing more about this process as it unfolds — the print development, a glimpse into the design direction, and eventually the collection itself, which will also be available on my online store. For now, what you need to know is that we'll be launching in the Rosebank store and on The Space online store for high summer 2026, with plans to roll out to stores in KZN, Cape Town and Pretoria thereafter. So that's the big news — and it really is huge news. I'm about to hit the ground running to pull all of this together for the high summer launch, and I look forward to sharing more of this journey with you as I move closer to the launch date. In the meantime, a quick reminder that we still have 15% off our Colourburst collection running right now — automatically applied at checkout until Sunday the 26th of July.
