Hello, friends. There are a lot of strategic and creative considerations that go into designing a product — but there is also a deeply personal one. I consider myself one of my own customers, so I think a lot about how I feel in a garment, what I want to get out of it, and how I would ultimately want to wear it.
When I started working on what would become our Lourdes t-shirt, I made a list of all the things I would personally want in my idea of the ultimate everyday t-shirt. That list was eventually shortlisted to four elements — and the result is the t-shirt we now offer in sixteen different colours. Here are my reasons for loving our Lourdes t-shirt — and why I think you will too.
1. The fabric — We use viscose spandex, a super soft, silky fabric that is lightweight, breathable and feels luxurious against the skin. It won't make you hot in summer, which for the sunshine season is everything. 2. The silhouette — Our Lourdes t-shirt is cut as an easy fit — not skin tight, but not shapeless either. There is room in it, but it is designed to still have a little shape to the body. You can wear your true size, size down for a more fitted, slightly cropped feel, or size up for something more fluid and drapey. One note on sizing up — don't go too far, or the neckline loses its shape. 3. The sleeve — We've cut the sleeve to sit at the elbow, with a drop shoulder for that relaxed, slouchy feel — but without the excess fabric you often get on a traditional boxy t-shirt. And if you want to shorten it or add a little detail, there's a tab and button so you can roll the sleeve up and fasten it. 4. The details — This is where our Lourdes t-shirt stops being just a t-shirt. A narrow self-fabric neckband that keeps the neckline clean. Exposed serger seams- a surface texture detail that elevates the whole garment. Side slits for movement. And shaped hem panels that curve down slightly at the front and a little more at the back, giving just enough extra coverage where it matters. Put all of that together and you have not just any everyday t-shirt — you have one that someone chose intentionally, and will keep reaching for.
