Hello, friends. By now you're well acquainted with our Lourdes t-shirt (and you probably own at least one). It's one of the most special and unique pieces we've created, and it has become an iconic piece loved by happy customers in many different colours. But did you know we have a second t-shirt that's just as wonderful to wear, and gives your outfit a slightly different look? If you haven't found it yet, let me introduce our Blake Easy Fit t-shirt, and the story behind how it came about.
Once our Lourdes t-shirt was done, it was clear that we had created something unique that could become a signature piece for our brand. But I started wondering what else I'd like to offer in a t-shirt, and which elements I'd love to wear that weren't in our Lourdes. I've always loved what I call the "it girl" t-shirt. You know the one, in photographs of stylish women walking through beautiful cities, wearing a slouchy white t-shirt that looks easy, chic and a little bit sexy. I wanted to create my version of it, so I started a new list of what that t-shirt would need. I knew it had to be a little more modern and a little more recognisable than our Lourdes, while still combining elements that were unique to my idea of the ultimate slouchy t-shirt. It needed a deep scooped V-neck, which I find so flattering because it cradles the collarbone and gives a hint of cleavage without being too revealing. It needed a shorter sleeve for a lighter, more summery feel, with a little turn-up detail that instantly makes a garment feel more modern. And it needed a patch pocket on the front to accentuate the slouchy look. Our Lourdes has a drop shoulder, whereas our Blake is more structured and fitted across the shoulders, sleeves and bust, and then opens into a looser, easy fit over the waist and hips. There are side slits for extra movement, and the front hem curves down slightly for a little more coverage and room for a French tuck if you like that look. The back carries our signature serger seam, as a nod to what makes our pieces ours.
All in all, I feel I've made a sister to our Lourdes t-shirt, with a different look and feel but all the same comfort. Our Blake is made from viscose spandex that feels soft, silky and light against the skin. Take your true size and it follows the lines of your body without clinging, take a size down for a more fitted, cropped look, or a size up for something slouchy, soft and comfortable. I chose my white one a size up, for that looser, more open neckline and softer fit.
