Hello, friends. I've written another blog post, and this one is about the not-so-humble t-shirt.
With so many orders for our Lourdes and our Blake t-shirts leaving the workshop lately, it felt like a good moment to look back on the development of our three unique t-shirts and tell you how they came to be. The t-shirt is one of the most widely made and widely sold garments in retail, so why did I choose to make my own version? The story starts a long way before me. The t-shirt began as military underwear, hidden beneath uniforms for decades, before it made its way onto the silver screen and from there onto the streets, becoming one of the most worn pieces in the modern wardrobe. The shape it started with was designed around a man's body, and
that's where my own story begins. I wanted a t-shirt designed for a woman's body from the very first pattern, and that led to the development of our iconic Lourdes t-shirt.
From there, we branched out into our Blake t-shirt, my version of the "it girl" slouchy tee, and then our Layla t-shirt, which started with a feeling instead of a list of wants.
If you've ever wondered why one small brand would take on something as everyday as a t-shirt, I think you'll enjoy reading about our journey. xx
